113 Years of Financial Excellence

As the largest and most established life insurer in the country, Great Eastern Life has served and protected millions of Malaysian families throughout their lives with its comprehensive policies since its establishment in 1908. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Eastern Holdings Limited, we have RM91.1 billion in assets, over 3 million policies in force, 21 operational branches, and a network of 19,000 agents nationwide.

In addition to life insurance, as a member of the OCBC Group, Great Eastern Life works closely with its parent company in Bancassurance partnerships, and offers general and Takaful insurances through its General and Takaful arm. With our pooled resources and collaborative efforts, we offer a variety of options and versatility in our business operations, as well as our hiring practices, allowing inter-company career mobility opportunities across the Group regionally for our employees.

We are a LIFE Company

What makes us great is our people.

As a LIFE company, we are committed to providing an inclusive, progressive and flexible working environment that fosters a culture of collaboration, creativity and excellence. Our Flexible Working Arrangements (FWA) include flexi-hours, flexi-dress code, as well as work from home (WFH), enabling our people to integrate their work and personal life in a meaningful manner so that they can enjoy both a great life and a great career.

We are also committed to attracting, retaining, and rewarding exceptional talents with our rewards and benefits programme. Our rewards are competitive with the external job market, and we provide comprehensive insurance coverage, outpatient and inpatient medical benefits, retirement gratuities, optical and dental, subsidised gym memberships, special paid leaves, as well as maternity assistance.

We live by Integrity, Initiative, and Involvement

A great culture plays a vital role in our organisation’s success, and it is what makes Great Eastern a great place to work at, where views and opinions are heard and respected, and everyone works together as one. As a member of the Great Eastern family, we live out our core values in our daily lives, and that is to work with Integrity, Initiative, and Involvement. To put it simply, we do the right thing, take the lead, and choose ‘we’ over ‘me’.

We empower your health and wellbeing

Our award-winning LIFE Programme is designed to promote a healthier and more engaging workplace for our people. By completing our annual health screening, employees can be a part of this programme and enjoy a number of incentives and tools to take care of their health, which includes an in-house gym, weight management and wellness guides, healthy food giveaways, as well as popular health talks by medical specialists.

Our Live Great Fridays are filled with activities such as Zumba classes, aerobic and yoga sessions, HIIT classes, challenging games, and sport tournaments such as badminton and futsal.

By participating in these activities, members can earn LIFE points (1 LIFE point = RM 1) which can be used to reimburse gym membership subscriptions, Work-From-Home set ups, purchases and services from selected merchants, or offset insurance premiums for them or their loved ones.

We invest in our talents

We provide numerous opportunities to empower graduates who are keen on embarking a career at Great Eastern, be it through our Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarship programme, internships, or our structured Management Associate Programme (MAP).

For experienced hires looking to excel further, we sponsor our talents for LOMA (Life Office Management Association), ACCA, and other trainings and examinations, and ensure high achievers are recognized, promoted, and nurtured to be the future leaders of the company. Our Educational Assistance Programme provides employees various educational supports such as study leaves, examination subsidies, professional memberships, course fee assistance, and special salary increments upon successful completion of relevant courses.

We are committed to creating a better world for future generations

Emerging from the pandemic, we seized the opportunity to build on our resilience and incorporated sustainability considerations in our business activities. Our sustainability approach is aimed at two objectives – improving people’s lives and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

In creating a low-carbon economy, we manage the risks and opportunities arising from climate change and contribute to global efforts in reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions by managing the environmental footprint of our operations, apart from incorporating ESG considerations in our investment portfolios.

To improve people’s lives, we aim to contribute to more inclusive societies as an insurer, employer, investor, and corporate citizen, by making insurance accessible to broader segments of communities through appropriate affordable products, digital advisory and distribution platforms, and actively helping our stakeholders to live healthier, better and longer through our integrated health and wellness programme.

Lastly, we are committed to conducting responsible business practices by managing material ESG risks and seizing ESG opportunities while providing insurance products to customers and communities to gain the trust of customers in the long term.

We care for the community

Established in 1995 and in line with our aspiration as a LIFE company, our ChildrenCare programme is a long-term community project benefitting over 10,000 Malaysian children in registered homes under Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM). Focusing on areas of Education, Health and Wellness, and Personal Development, we organise various activities to provide relief and bring cheer to underprivileged children throughout the year, apart from channeling donations to various charities and homes.
