International Women’s Day event
March 8th marked International Women’s Day, a day to focus on women’s contributions to social, economic, cultural, and political advancements around the world. At TMS, starting March 1st, all e-signatures were changed to include an International Women’s Day themed logo. On March 8th 2021, we organised an Asia wide virtual event and invited Ruby Wong, a young woman who founded the Scoliosis Awareness Group, to share her inspirational story with our employees. Employees were also invited to share videos of themselves and to take selfies responding to this year’s #ChooseToChallenge International Women’s Day theme. Over 130 employees participated in Asia and we raised HKD$15,000 to donate to charities supporting women such as Catalyst, The Asia Foundation and Mother’s Choice.


The Marketing Store launches a global employee survey called “Your Voice Matters” every two years. Through the survey, people share their feedback and insight which helps our management drive changes within our workplace. Our people shared that they will be more engaged when being recognized. As a result, we launched a recognition campaign called “TMS APMEA Applause Channel” to encourage employees show their appreciation for each other. We created a channel via Microsoft Teams where people can choose a badge and send a thank you message to others. Each month, our leadership teams will select outstanding individuals to receive the recognition award.

Many of our employees have a long period of service with us, evolving their careers and shaping the business we are today. Half of our people have been with the business for over five years and 30% of our team have been with us for over fifteen years. We hold annual celebrations when employees reach service milestones and take every opportunity to develop and promote our teams from within, encouraging them to move between functions to gain experience and progress. We believe our loyal, engaged and experienced people are central to our business’ success.

At The Marketing Store, our comprehensive learning and development courses, which are either classroom/webinar-based, cover a wide range of topics including leaderships skills, technical skills, soft skills, and more. We believe that managers play a key role in creating a high performance organization, driving our culture throughout the organization. To enable our managers to support their teams, we offer ongoing support and training, including investment in Situational Leadership and other leadership skills, such as career conversations and leading virtual teams effectively. This is especially important when switching to a work-from-home environment. We also offered respective trainings for individual contributors so managers and team members can speak in the same language; for example, self-leadership, working as a team virtually, career development planning workshops etc.

Moreover, we introduced “Focus Friday” globally to encourage our people to set aside some dedicated time regularly for their own learning and development. Our Learning & Development team regularly share various learning topics and webinars with our people, but it is totally our people’s choice to grow the areas they are interested in.


During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Marketing Store is committed to keep our employees safe. In Hong Kong, we support employees by:
  • Implementing flexible and working-from-home arrangements to minimize the risk of exposure of virus and keep social distancing
  • Securing quality surgical masks for employees
  • Organizing virtual health talks to teach our people home exercise to reduce stress and maintain our mental health
Although we are under a flexible/working-from-home arrangement, we engage with everyone by organizing monthly office meetings to provide regular business updates from the management team as well as to engage with all of the Asia locations, giving a voice for broader teams at all levels to participate and contribute.

We regularly organize engagement and social events across the locations in Asia. For instance, we celebrate festivals by as sending mooncakes and lanterns to employees during the mid-autumn festival; playing virtual Lunar New Year Quiz and giving “fortune bags” to employees during Lunar New Year; organizing our first ever Virtual Office Olympics Event; having quarterly social events - we invited our employees to share their special capabilities for example, we organised a virtual cooking class.
