Link REIT
Link REIT is a leading retail-focused REIT in the world. Listed in 2005, we are a young, fast-growing company with assets spanning Hong Kong, Mainland China, Australia and the United Kingdom.Catalyst for a Brighter Future
The past year has been filled with turbulent times and major disruptions. Under the new normal, we were even more determined to support Linkers by focusing on their employee experience during these trying times. Our journey has proven to be a catalyst for sustainable growth toward a brighter future. By staying connected with Linkers on what they valued most, our learning and resilience to move forward enabled us to achieve business stability and job security for Linkers against COVID-19.When the economic downturn triggered by COVID-19 led to major business restructuring in the world, our leadership team seized the opportunity to rethink and realign our business strategy. Their visionary leadership, coupled with our teamwork, has created greater resilience in how we operated as a business and a caring employer.
Driving Employee Experience
The ongoing pandemic has taken a toll on Linkers’ physical, emotional and mental welling in their professional and personal spaces. We stayed attuned to their evolving needs and stepped up our support around 4 key differentiators: Workplace, Recognition, Learning & Growth and Fulfilment.Workplace
During COVID-19, Linkers have worked in a safe workplace that was maintained with the highest safety standards: regular drills, deep cleaning, hourly disinfection, thermal scanners and provision of facial masks, etc. They enjoyed flexible work arrangements (flexible work hours, remote working, work from home) and collaborative technology to maintain productivity. As time went on, they began to experience varying degrees of isolation or even fatigue when lockdowns and other forms of inventions were implemented for public safety.
Remote yet Connected
To combat COVID-19 fatigue, we actively engaged Linkers through timely, transparent and two-way communications. From CEO’s personal reflection, thank you note to HR updates, we showed appreciation and instilled hope among Linkers. A linker who had recovered from COVID-19 was deeply moved when our C-suite leaders reached out to offer support and encouragement, and HR had assigned a dedicated manager to offer timely assistance. We hosted virtual management retreats to engage management teams in Hong Kong Headquarters and Regional Centres for experience sharing while employee representatives were empowered to provide feedback from the ground up.
To support Linkers across different locations, we provided a Virtual Wellness Resource Centre where essential information such as Linkers’ Offers, Employee Assistance Programme Hotline, Mindfulness Practices, Mental Health Guide, Stress Relief Tips and Stretching Videos were easily accessible. A section dedicated to COVID-19 contained information such as COVID-19 general guidelines, office protocol, social contact & health declaration and COVID-19 vaccine and medical coverage details. By extending our reach through technology, Linkers and their families could benefit from these resources and felt connected despite geographical differences.
Linker’s Panel, our employee committee, played an important role in fostering mutual support among Linkers. They have organized various clubs such as Sports Clubs, Parents Club, offering Linkers an outlet for relief, support and fun.
Despite a very challenging year, we continued to celebrate key milestones and to have fun while connecting Linkers near and far through technology. Some highlights included Link’s 15th anniversary celebration, Townhall meetings, festive celebrations e.g. Chinese New Year, Christmas as well as happy hours.
We are honored to receive the “Best Companies to Work For in Asia” 2021 for the second consecutive year, and to receive the “WeCare HR Asia Most Caring Companies Award” 2021. This is a huge recognition to our commitment as we continue to pursue excellency amid the global pandemic. We remain committed to our vision as a world class real estate investor and manager with the aim to improve the lives of those around us. Thank you to HR Asia Awards Organizing Committee!.

Recognition
The wellbeing of Linkers went beyond meeting their need for safety and security in the workplace. At the outbreak of COVID-19, we immediately assured job security to Linkers against COVID-19 where they were not affected by pay cut.Our Business as Mutual ethos has pushed Linkers to go the extra mile to support our business, tenants, shoppers and other stakeholders to build constructive and collaborative partnerships. For example, our Leasing team worked diligently to support tenants on tenancy restructuring to support them during COVID-19. Our Property Management Team ensured that public safety was a top priority in our assets throughout COVID-19. Their outstanding service had been recognized with financial rewards.
Learning & Growth
A learning organization would only grow when their people learn and thrive. Our investment in Linkers’ growth and development needs remained robust during COVID-19.Our Learning & Development Committee, consisting of learning champions across departments and corporate levels, continued to drive learning and development interventions for Linkers’ professional development. By leveraging LinkEDGE, a digital learning platform, Linkers enjoyed self-directed learning at their own pace and in their own space. LinkREAD, a book club for personal development, was launched where Linkers met regularly at LinkREAD Café to discuss about books and share their learning journey.
Fulfilment
While Linkers’ experiences and perspectives may vary, we respected and engaged them by sharing a sense of hope and purpose. Our approach has been a key enabler to help Linkers navigate the uncertainty and change in their professional and personal spaces.2020 Summer Internship Programme – targeted for children of Linkers, service partners and Link scholars, we recruited the largest number of student interns in Link’s history. During the trying times, we involved Linkers to extend our support to a higher cause, by providing life exposure and work experience to the youth who would become future leaders of our communities.
Our Volunteer Committee focused on giving back to those in need during COVID-19, from giving care packages to the Elderly, donating food to the underprivileged to other good causes.
We shall remain steadfast in our efforts to be an employer of choice and continue to support Linkers to a brighter future!
